Cambridge ESOL Certificate

The University of Cambridge language examinations are among the most prestigious international examinations of the English language. More than 2 million people take one of the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations every year in more than 130 countries.

The results of these exams are recognized by more than 12 000 companies, organizations, ministries and state enterprises, universities and colleges all over the world. These exams are recognized by immigration authorities of many countries as well.

There is an international system of grading language levels: Beginner, Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate, and Advanced. This system was formulated by ALTE (The Association of Language Testers in Europe), and is the basis for the Cambridge Examinations.

There are five tests in Cambridge ESOL examination group KET, PET, FCE, CAE, and CPE. All of them are conducted in our schools. We also offer the Business English BEC exam, as well as exams designed for Financial English ICFE, Legal English ILEC and English for children YLE.

Levels

CPE  - Level C2

This certificate implies a very high level of spoken and written English. Candidates must demonstrate speech fluency and accuracy approaching a standard of English similar to that of an native speaker, even when discussing complex subjects and situations.

This certificate is recognised by most British universities, as well as other educational institutions and employers.

CAE - Level С1

This certificate is of a fairly high level, which indicates the candidate’s ability to use the English language in numerous professional, academic and social situations. On top of that, examiners test the candidate’s ability to properly apply the language in different areas of activity in different situations. This certificate is recognized by all British universities and more and more recognized by institutions in the USA and around the world. This certificate is widely recognized in the field of education and employment.

FCE – Level  В2

The FCE exam checks your ability to communicate with confidence (both orally and in written form) in English, not only when dealing with familiar subjects, but also when faced with complicated and technical subjects. This certificate is recognized by most universities and employers as the internationally recognised benchmark of the ability to use English for business and academic purposes.

PET – Level В1

The PET exam checks your command of oral and written English at the intermediate level in work, academic and social situations. Candidates have to show their ability to apply the English language in everyday written and oral communication (for example, while reading fairly uncomplicated clippings and articles, composing simple private letters, taking minutes at a meeting).

KET – Level А2

This exam checks your ability to handle everyday written and oral English on a practical, elementary level while travelling and in academic and work situations.

In the KET exam, language suitable for real life situations is used, and this test is evaluated on the basis of 4 language skills – reading comprehension, writing, listening comprehension and speaking.
