Visa

Please pay close attention to this section! This information is of great importance to you!

Every participant will get the basic set of documents necessary for receiving a long-stay visa. Additional documents should be prepared by you. After that, you will have to bring the full set of documents in person to the nearest Embassy or Consulate of the Czech Republic.

A Long-stay visa (type D)

A Long-stay visa (type D) is issued to an applicant who is planning to stay in the Czech Republic for more than 90 days. The visa for a stay of over 90 days is issued by the regional office of the Department for Asylum and Migration Policy (DAMP) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Czech Republic based on the application of an alien who wishes to stay in the territory of the Czech Republic. The maximum length of the visa is 6 months, with unlimited number of entries, i.e. it is a multiple-entry visa. Russian Federation citizens can apply for this type of visa in diplomatic missions in the Czech Republic and Russian Federation (Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Ekaterinburg), and also in diplomatic missions where they a given a long-term residence permit. All actions connected with applying for this type  of Visa  have to be done in person (handing in documents, passports issue, delivery of the passport for visa, and taking it back).

Every applicant for a long-term stay over 90 days must be registered at VISAPOINT for submission of the application. Without proper registration, the alien will not be allowed to submit the visa application at the diplomatic mission, no interview will be held, and the processing of the application will not begin.

The alien should register for submission of the visa application on the website www.visapoint.eu. If for some reason you can’t get to the Consulate General to apply for a long-stay visa on the day you are registered on the website, PLEASE cancel your registration in advance.

Attention!!!

Taking into account the geographic location of diplomatic missions (Embassies) of the Czech Republic and their accessibility, the territorial scope of activities has been adjusted in the following way in order to reduce the complexity for an applicant in terms of time, financial expenditures and terms of applications. Applications from the regions which do not belong to the scope of the diplomatic mission (i.e. the applicant is not registered in this region) will only be considered on an individual basis and accepted for justified reasons. Details of the territorial scope of diplomatic missions can be found here.

An application can only be accepted if it has all the necessary documents. If the participant does not have the whole range of documents stipulated by law, the application can’t be considered.

While lodging the application, an interview with the applicant will be conducted. The written record of the interview will be part of the application. The record will be written down and will be signed by the applicant and the officer of the Embassy/Consulate who will conduct the interview.

In case of positive decision the diplomatic mission will affix a long-stay visa on your passport or on an equivalent document. In case the visa application has been declined, the diplomatic mission must state legitimate reasons for the refusal. (If your visa has been refused please inform Cloverleaf Language School immediately and  we will let you know the next steps).

Applications for a long-stay visa with the purpose “others” (e.g. preparatory language courses for university admission) are valid for 120 days from the day of application. A positive decision is valid for 180 days since the day of application. We help all our participants in applying for visa extensions which are processed within the Czech Republic by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
