Brno

The city of Brno dates back to the 12th century, although the first evidence of human habitation dates back to a  much earlier period ( the 5th century AD). Brno is the industrial capital of the Czech Republic. They say the city  is Czech Manchester. But more importantly, Brno is considered to be one of the most popular tourist destinations after Prague. And it is no surprise, since from the time of its foundation until the middle of the 19th century Brno was a town-fortress. Moreover, the city was considerably damaged during the Second World War. Such a rich history offers  tourists a wide variety of sightseeing spots. The Svitava river flows through the city. And it is interesting to note that Brno – like many other European cities – is famous for its port. Upon arriving in Brno, the first things you see are the towering spires of Peter and Paul Cathedral on Peter’s Hill. On the second hill Spilberk, a castle of the same name is located.
