The history of Prague castle began in the 9th century, when prince Borivoj (Premyslovic dynasty) built a wooden castle on the hill over the Vltava river (subsequently enclosed by walls from stone and clay), a defensive ditch and a walkway. Prague castle is a unique historical and artistic landmark. It is one of the oldest castles in the world and attracts a large number of tourists.
